LiveInfo
From Wiki-Scene
A Windows based program for viewing or editing the EEPROMs of original Xbox gaming consoles.
By reading the information stored in an EEPROM drump, it can inform you of the system:
- Version
- Serial number
- MAC address
- Video & XBE region
- Online key (used for Xbox Live)
- DVD region
- Confounder key (whatever that is)
- HDD key
In addition, the lower section of the display allows you to select an IDE/PATA HDD attached to your computer. This will inform you of the HDD password for that drive (using the drive's serial number and the HDD key from the loaded EEPROM). This is the code used for drive locking - it is different for every drive/EEPROM combination. Likewise, LiveInfo can also inform you of whether the attached drives are locked or not.
- Physical Drive 0 - Primary Master (end of the first IDE cable)
- Physical Drive 1 - Primary Slave (middle of the first IDE cable)
- Physical Drive 2 - Secondary Master (end of the second IDE cable)
- Physical Drive 3 - Secondary Slave (middle of the second IDE cable)
Note that it is better practice to use the Linux-based locking tools included with XboxHDM if you wish to alter a drive lock. These can also generate the code on their own if provided with an EEPROM dump, lowering the chance of a mistake due to the user (that being you!) accidentally typing in the wrong code. Rather then keeping a record of the information stored in an EEPROM, it is better to simply keep the entire EEPROM file in a safe place.
The latest release of this tool is Beta 3:
Confirming EEPROM Backups Using LiveInfo
If you have an EEPROM dump and you're not sure it's valid, you can load the file into LiveInfo and compare the serial number shown to that on the underside of the console the backup came from. If the serials shown match, then the file can be considered a good copy.
