Hardmod (Xbox)
From Wiki-Scene
Technically speaking, the term "hardmod" is used to refer to any change to a console's hardware - that is to say, it's a "hardware modification".
As nearly all Xbox mods revolve around changes to the BIOS (which can either be tweaked via a software hack or hardware modification), it is generally assumed that a hardmodded console will include one of the two types of hardware based BIOS hacks.
These are:
- TSOP flashing - Reflashing the Xbox's own BIOS storing chip.
- Modchipping - The addition of another BIOS holding chip that overrides the TSOP.
Hardmodded consoles load a modified BIOS the instant they're turned on, and this is reflected during the boot process animation (usually by logos or colour changes implemented by the developer of the hacked BIOS). If there is any difference between the animation shown by your console and the original, then it is certain your Xbox has a hardmod.
